Feel the power of the groove! Participants of all levels of musical expertise come together and share their rhythmic spirit. Participants will use djembes, cajons and other hand percussion instruments in a drum circle. |
| Basic playing technique, improvising, listening and ‘composing’ for hand drums will be discussed, and of course everyone will participate in lots of playing. A variety of rhythms will be practiced and participants will learn non-verbal commands to cue dynamics, section features, tempo, improvisation, and vocalization. Please note: While not mandatory, it is recommended that participants have ear plugs on hand. |

Barry will expose students to modern concepts of drumming that will strengthen technique while encouraging creativity. Course content will be tailored to the participants involved. Bring your musical questions and problems.
