This class is aimed at participants wishing to improve their skills performing Baroque and Classical music. We will do a little playing and listen to a lot of music, discovering things you never suspected. Barbara will address some of the finer points of ornamentation, including trills, mordents, turns, etc., and will cover extemporization in Baroque music, opening endless possibilities for improvisation - after all, this was the original jazz! We will also look at stylistic ways to approach articulation and phrasing. Please bring any pieces that you would like to work on for class discussion.
This class is for intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and vocalists with a background in classical music. This class will not perform at the end of the week.
