Neil will not be at LFM camp in 2020.

A native of British Columbia, Neil attended the University of British Columbia where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree on trumpet, maintaining cello as his second instrument. He followed his music degree with teacher training, also at UBC. He attended summer music programs at the Courtenay Youth Music Centre, the Banff Centre (with the Canadian Brass), and the Aspen Festival.

In 1983, Neil moved to Toronto to take up a position as Production Assistant/Youth Orchestra Manager with the Toronto Symphony. Returning to teaching with the Scarborough Board of Education, he taught Computers, Band and Strings, conducted the All-City Symphony Orchestra, the All-City Concert Band, and instructed at the Scarborough Music Camp. After a 31-year teaching career, Neil retired from Trinity College School, where he taught Grade 5 to 8 music and conducted award-winning string and wind ensembles at both the elementary and secondary level.

As a perforrmer, Neil served as Principal Trumpet of the Northumberland Orchestra and Choir and the Scarborough Philharmonic. In December of 2018, Neil and his wife Barbara embarked on a new adventure and moved to Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. Neil’s hobbies include travel, computers, and working on his ever-expanding model railroad empire.
