Ariel is teaching Sight-Singing Basics and Intro to Jazz Improvisation, leading Jam 45 and conducting Jazz Choir.

Ariel Shetzen is a Toronto-based jazz vocalist who draws influence from Sarah Vaughan and Norma Winstone. Music has always been a primary focus in her life. She studied classical piano and theory with the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree, honors, in Jazz Voice Performance from the University of Toronto, where she has studied with Juno-award winning vocalist Sienna Dahlen and acclaimed vocalist Alex Samaras.

In 2013, Ariel was one of six Canadians nominated for the Slaight Family Scholarship, a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music. She has performed at Koerner Hall with acclaimed Jazz pianist/vocalist, Carol Welsman, for Havergal College’s 120th anniversary.

Ariel believes in the power of group singing, and has led a glee choir, jazz choir and is currently the director of the Danforth Jewish Circle community choir.
