This class will explore piano duets for a single piano with two players. Introduction of this format in the 19th century was welcomed by composers and it had both a musical and cultural impact on pianists of all abilities.
Each pair will work in a separate room and the coach will divide time between the pairs. Participants will be paired, as best possible, with a partner of similar ability. Entry into this class may depend on the availability of suitable partner. A piano as well as keyboards will be used in this class. Participants are welcome to provide music before camp, so that it can be evaluated and exchanged in advance.
For intermediate/advanced pianists with at least RCM Grade 8 ability and strong reading skills.
Participants perform for the class, but not the end-of-week concerts. Other opportunities to perform include evening concerts earlier in the week.
This class has limited enrolment.
