This instrumental ensemble will explore 20th century Brazilian music, from choro to bossa nova to forro, made popular by composers such as Jacob do Bandolim, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Gonzaga. You’ll learn about the three different styles by learning songs and the rhythmic characteristics that define them.
For intermediate/advanced instrumentalists, in particular, violin, flute, viola, clarinet, cello, bass, piano, accordion, guitar, mandolin and percussion (cajon, clavé, guiro, reco-reco, pandeiro, tamborim, triangle will be provided).Suitable for both improvisers and non-improvisers.Sight-reading skills required. This ensemble will perform at the end of the week. This class has limited enrolment.
