What do you do when your friends ask you to play with their band, but they don't have any sheet music for you? In this workshop, you’ll learn to identify the basic structure of songs through some formal analysis, understanding harmony and with a little improvisation; you will start developing some musical lines of your own. Intended for classically trained musicians who want to branch out, this class will focus on standard pop, rock and jazz songs.
For intermediate/advanced players of orchestral instruments with good sight-reading skills. All sheet music will be in concert pitch suitable for non-transposing instruments. Advanced pianist and drummer welcome to serve as rhythm section for workshop. This class will not perform at the end of the week.
