Handbells are excellent for learning ensemble playing. Unlike an orchestra or choir where a musician is responsible for one line of the texture, each musician in a handbell choir is responsible for particular notes, sounding his or her assigned bell whenever that note appears in the music.Ringing handbells reinforces and strengthens the ability to ready music, enhances rhythm and makes counting beats second nature. In this class, each ringer will be assigned a set of bells and will learn to perform as an ensemble. Try this out for a unique musical experience!
Handbells in period 6 is for beginners. No prior ringing experience necessary.Basic sight-reading skills are required. This ensemble will perform at the end of the week. This class has limited enrolment.Handbells (advanced) in period 5 is for experienced ringers.Designed for participants currently ringing in, or having rung in a handbell choir.Sight-reading skills are required. This ensemble will perform at the end of the week.Due to the very limited enrolment capacity, participants may be asked about their prior experience.
