Jenny is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the VOCA Chorus of Toronto. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario (MusBac, B.Ed), where she studied piano with Gwen Beamish and choral conducting with Deral Johnson.
She has had a richly varied career as a professional musician, which has included 37 years as a collaborative pianist, coach, clinician and teacher; accompanist and composer for dance and theatre productions; vocalist with the Toronto vocal jazz sextet "Union Station", as well as back-up singer and keyboardist on 2 recordings; performer with several ensembles in Toronto (including the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Operetta Theatre and the Orpheus Choir of Toronto); and conductor of both adult and children’s choirs.
Jenny's choral arrangements have been performed by VOCA, the Jubilate Singers and the Bach Children’s Chorus, as well as by several choirs in the U.S. She accompanied singer Patricia O'Callaghan on her debut CD, “Youkali,” which received a 'Critic's Choice' review in Billboard Magazine.
She was invited to conduct the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir's first 'Singsation' choral workshops for both their 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
In May 2015, Jenny had the honour of co-conducting a group of 85 choristers from 6 different provinces, including almost 40 singers from the VOCA Chorus of Toronto, at NYC's legendary Carnegie Hall.
In October 2016, Jenny and the VOCA Chorus of Toronto were thrilled to welcome the world-renowned composer, pianist and recording artist, Ola Gjeilo (one of the most frequently performed choral composers in the globe) as their fall clinician. Mr. Gjeilo then invited Jenny to assemble a group of choristers to perform in a concert entirely dedicated to his works - with full orchestra, and with the composer at the piano - in April 2018 ... at Carnegie Hall!
She is also thrilled that she'll be singing in a concert at NYC's Lincoln Center this coming June, which will feature several of Ola Gjeilo's choral works, accompanied by strings and Mr. Gjeilo at the piano.
