Participants will sample a variety of rhythm-based music from around the globe (Music of Africa, India, South America, Caribbean). The material will be learned in the spirit of oral traditions through the practice of clapping patterns, percussion rhythms, call and response and some singing. This class will focus on the development of listening skills and musical memory.
No experience, sight-reading or instruments are required. Some movement and singing may be included but is not mandatory. This class will not perform at the end of the week.
