Introduction to Jazz Improvisation with Mike Graham and Ariel Shetzen

jam45tues2014

This class is for musicians who have never improvised before but would like to try. It will get you having fun improvising over easy jazz pieces or basic chord progressions, with theory introduced as needed and audio examples to illustrate ideas. You’ll learn how to read a lead sheet and chord symbols. The class will be set up as introductory jazz ensemble with a safety net for those who want to jump in!

Is this class for you?

This class is aimed at intermediate/advanced instrumentalists and vocalists with some comfort playing/singing scales in different keys. It welcomes musicians with little or no experience with jazz improvising, but may have improvised in other styles (e.g. blues) and can follow easy lead sheets.
This class will not perform at the end of the week.
This class has limited enrolment.
