This class will offer an introduction to a variety of 'melodic' percussion (xylophones, tuned gongs, etc.) and indefinite pitched percussion instruments known as idiophones and membranophones (shakers, drums, cymbals, etc.). Participants will explore playing techniques and sounds through the workshopping of a piece of repertoire and will gain experience playing both instrument families.

Is this class for you?

No prior percussion experience is necessary.
Basic sight-reading skills are required.
Ability to cope with relatively loud sounds is imperative.
This class will have the opportunity to perform at the end of the week.
This class has limited enrolment.
