The Blues are the wellspring of every kind of American popular music in the 20th century and beyond. Without the unique cultural clash of African and European sensibilities we'd not have Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Rock & Roll, Soul, Funk, Reggae, etc. - everything we think of as the American contribution to music. If you want to play any of those styles, it really helps to know where they come from! As a happy plus, getting started in the Blues is easy and fun. There is plenty of room for virtuosity in the confines of the simple forms of the Blues, so there is space for people from different backgrounds.
This small ensemble is for intermediate/advanced instrumentalists, especially rhythm section instruments (piano, guitar, bass and drum kit), with limited space for saxophone, trumpet, trombone, strings and a couple of singers.
Some experience reading music (charts) is required.
This ensemble will perform at the end of the week.
This class has very limited enrolment.
