Woodwind Ens 2016 P1640427.jpg

This introductory class is aimed at participants wishing to learn about playing Baroque music in an authentic manner on modern instruments. We will play and listen to music, discovering differences in sound production and look at ornamentation, including trills, mordents, turns, etc. We will also look at stylistic ways to approach articulation and phrasing using treatises as reference points.

Modern and Baroque flutes will be demonstrated so you can compare the sound and feel of both instruments. You may also bring a modern and baroque instrument, but the class will be playing music on modern instruments with A440 tuning.

Is this class for you?

This class is for intermediate and advanced woodwind players with a background in classical music.
This class will not perform at the end of the week.
