Each instrumental group will work with a coach on ‘jazz standards’ as well as innovative compositions written by jazz instrumentalists in a variety of styles. The class may touch on everything from the 1940's bebop of Charlie Parker and the 1960's modal jazz of John Coltrane to the current compositions of modern jazz artists such as John Scofield or Branford Marsalis, and music composed by Lake Field Music's own faculty. |

Is this class for you? These groups are for intermediate/advanced instrumentalists comfortable reading lead sheets and playing scales in various keys so that they can focus on improvising, which is a big part of this kind of group. Less experienced players should try Introduction to Jazz Improvisation. |
