Amy is a Toronto-based singer, actor, and voice teacher whose career spans opera, musical theatre, concert performance, commercial work, and vocal pedagogy. A versatile crossover artist, she has trained and performed in a wide range of musical genres including opera, musical theatre, jazz, folk, country, and pop. Recent operatic engagements include Dircé in Médée and Giunia in Lucio Silla with Opera in Concert, as well as Franzi in A Waltz Dream and Glita in the world premiere of A Northern Lights Dream with Toronto Operetta Theatre. She has also appeared as Despina (Così fan tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Emma (Fierabras), Semele (Semele), Voluptua in La Pizza con Funghi, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. In 2019, Amy made her European debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre in Prague. Equally active in musical theatre and concert work, Amy’s recent credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense!, and Anne Egerman in A Little Night Music. She has appeared as a soloist with organizations including Symphony on the Bay and the Oakville Choral Society, and has performed recitals throughout Ontario. In 2017, she premiered Side Road Swamp by Karen Lee and Francis Ubertelli as part of the Sounds of Silence new art song project at the University of Toronto. Additionally, Amy has collaborated with Tapestry Opera, Against the Grain Theatre Company and A Good Mess Opera Theatre. Amy has also appeared on screen in national commercials and is the singing voice of Sofie on Fisher Price’s Little People television series. Amy is an award-winning performer and has received top honours at competitions including the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition, the American International Czech and Slovak Voice Competition, and the NATS Artist Awards. Amy holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Lorna MacDonald and was a two-time recipient of the prestigious Richard Bradshaw Fellowship in Voice and Opera. Her additional training includes musical theatre intensives at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. As an educator, she completed teacher training in Somatic Voicework™ – The LoVetri Method with Jeanie Lovetri at Shenandoah University. Passionate about teaching singers of all ages and experience levels, Amy is dedicated to helping students build healthy vocal technique, artistic confidence, and a lifelong love of music-making. Amy maintains a private studio and has taught at institutions such as the Oakville Academy of the Arts, Bravo Academy of the Arts, Bayview Glen Private School, Holy Name of Mary Catholic School and the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts. |
