Each summer, Lake Field Music camp takes residence at Lakefield College School in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario. The campus is located on the shore of Lake Katchewanooka (view map), approximately a 20-minute drive north of Peterborough and a 100-minute drive northeast of Toronto.
The 155-acre campus boasts excellent music facilities including the Bryan Jones Theatre and the A.W. Mackenzie Chapel (built 1998) with the organ from the College’s original chapel (1924). Both of these spaces and the dedicated music room have grand pianos while keyboards are available in most of the classrooms. The theatre, chapel and most classrooms are air-conditioned.
You’re welcome to practice or play with others in one of the unused classrooms, practice studios, under a tree or by the lake. Music in the dormitories is also permitted outside of quiet times.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style in the bright, sunlit dining hall. Announcements about each day's activities are usually made at meal times and posted outside the dining hall.
The dormitories offer forest or field views and are only a short stroll to the lakefront. Swimming, canoeing, tennis and hiking are available.
Air-conditioned dormitories have several configurations:
- A pair of rooms sharing an attached bathroom (Cooper).
- Single and double occupancy rooms sharing a multi-fixture bathroom.
Rooms are equipped single beds, desks, dressers and a closet.
Contact us about the availability of non-air-conditioned rooms.

All dormitories have rooms on the ground and second floors. Some dormitories are located about 250 metres from the dining hall which is connected to the classrooms, theatre and chapel. One of these dormitories is wheelchair accessible with wide doorways but only two of the rooms have a bathroom with roll-in shower. Dormitories are also located about 100 metres from the facilities and are recommended for those with difficulty walking, but they are not wheelchair accessible.
Otherwise, the campus is mostly wheelchair accessible although the distances and gravel roads have proven challenging for users of manual wheelchairs; a motorized wheelchair is recommended. Most, but not all, doors are equipped with automatic door openers. The main building is serviced by an elevator between level one (classrooms) and level two (theatre, dining hall, chapel, etc.), but it is not centrally located. Accessible washrooms are available throughout the campus.
Please email or call us for more information about the facilities and campus accessibility.
