This class is aimed at participants wishing to learn more about playing Baroque music in an authentic manner. We will play and listen to music, discovering differences in sound production and look at ornamentation, including trills, mordents, turns etc., and improvisation in Baroque music. We will also look at stylistic ways to approach articulation and phrasing using treatises as reference points. For example, a Baroque violin with gut strings and bow will be present so you can experience the sound and feel of these unique instruments. |
